Win Money for Charity With Obama-Bingo

obamabingo.jpg

Just in time for the Democratic National Convention, two Denver entrepreneurs have launched a non-profit, web-based Bingo game to raise money for charity.

Obama-Bingo offers the chance to buy a 25-square bingo card for $10. Each square of the card features a word from one of Obama's previous speeches that will likely appear in his speech Thursday night at the Convention. The first card to reach a simple, five-square BINGO will win. The winner can then pick one of the 581 charities listed at www.charitywatch.org to receive 100 percent of the net proceeds from the Web site.

The developers of the project hope to combine the act of giving with the fervor of electing candidates for office. The winner will be named within one hour of the conclusion of Obama's speech tomorrow night.

The words range from "jobs" and "Iraq" to "galvanize" and "cynical." Charities include the National Cancer Coalition, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and the ACLU, among many others.

As of 5 p.m. on Wednesday, the Web site had collected $460. The developers expect to raise "several hundred thousand dollars" by the time the speech is given on Thursday.
