Microsoft Word Thinks Everything Is Misspelled

Microsoft Word Thinks Everything Is Misspelled

Q: I have an irritating problem with my computer. A short while back my daughter came over and loaded a copy of Microsoft Office Word 2007 on it. Shortly after that I noticed this red zigzag underlining on nearly every word typed in email. Any idea what I can do to correct it ? II already tried clicking on the upper font, size, color, bold, Italics, underline, buttons. It did nothing to change the Red underlining. - Jody Campbell.

A: The red underline indicates that Word or Outlook thinks the word is misspelled. If the program is set to spell-check using the wrong language you'll get symptoms like what you've described.

While composing a message in Outlook 2007 click the round Office button at top left and click the Editor options button at the bottom. Click the Language Settings button. If your primary language is not set to English (United States), change it to English (United States). Now you should only have underlines under actual misspelled words.

To totally turn off those red underlines go back to the Editor Options dialog and click the Proofing button at left. Un-check "check spelling as you type". Gone! - Neil J. Rubenking.
