Touchpad Pro: Control Your PC/Mac With Your iPhone

I just came across an application that lets your iPhone use Jedi mind tricks on your PC and Mac. By that, I mean wirelessly control your computer. Touchpad Pro is an open-source program that claims to allow you to access your computer from anywhere in the world.

Touchpad Pro offers an interface that lets you control your computer's mouse (similar to that found on some laptops), control the keyboard, control PowerPoint slides, scroll Web pages and documents, and so on. And while I haven't tested it myself, I find the concept amazing.

You need a jailbroken iPhone/iPod Touch with Installer to run this app. It works with a feature called Screenview that enables you to see what's on your computer's screen when you connect to it. This means that you don't have to be at your computer to use Touchpad Pro--you could be in a different room, or even in a different country. You can control the mouse and keyboard and immediately see the changes on the screen.

TouchPad Pro's creator, Jehanzeb Sherwani, has his own YouTube channel with videos of the app in action. Check out one demo, after the jump.

Can I Unstick Items in the Start Menu?

Can I Unstick Items in the Start Menu?

Q: Can I unstick items in the Start Menu? - Randolph Williams.

A: The items in the top half of the left column are there because you pinned them to the Start Menu. To remove one of these, right-click it and choose "Unpin from Start menu" in XP or "Remove from this list" if you're using Vista. The items in the bottom half are programs that you've used a lot. To remove one of these right-click it and choose "remove from this list" in either XP or Vista. Simple question, simple answer!

A more interesting question may be, "Can I prevent Windows from putting certain programs in the most-used programs list?" Maybe you'd rather not have the boss see that Freecell is one of your most-used programs, for example. And yes, you can. In XP or Vista, click Start, click Run, and enter REGEDIT. Navigate to the Registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Applications. Look for a subkey of this key whose name is the program you want to suppress, for example Freecell.exe. Quite likely this key will not be present; if so, select Edit | New | Key from the menu to create a key with the appropriate name. Click on the key and then select Edit | New | String value from the menu. Name the value NoStartPage. You may need to reboot before this change takes effect, but once it does the program in question will never show up as most-used. - Neil J. Rubenking.
