OperaFly Backs Up Your Opera Profile Easily

Filed under: Review, browsers, free_downloads, utilities - 07 May 2008

opera_logo.jpg There's a lot of talk about Firefox and Internet Explorer, but there's more than two options if you're looking for richly featured Web browsers. Opera users adore their browser of choice, and have a thriving community built around it. Unfortunately, if you want to back up your Opera browser settings, cookies, and profile information, you don't have a ton of options.

Now, thanks to one Opera fan and developer, there's OperaFly, a utility that will back up all of your Opera settings.

The beauty of OperaFly is that it can back up your data to your data on a regular basis or on command. You have complete control over what information is backed up, so you can choose to back up your bookmarks and site preferences, but not your cookies or browsing history. Additionally, OperaFly can both back up and restore settings from backups, so if you're moving from computer to computer, OperaFly can handle transitioning all of your Opera settings easily.

When you open OperaFly, the utility first goes looking for your Opera install folder, and then allows you to choose what items are included in the backup file. You select what parts of your Opera profile you want to keep and which you don't want to include in the backup, and then choose the destination location for the backup files. Once all of the settings are complete, you can either schedule the backups to take place automatically or start the backup immediately.

The most recent version of OperaFly can back up your Opera settings automatically every time you close Opera, so any new bookmarks, passwords, or cookies ...
