WeShow: Web Video Meets Social Networking

WeShow_Logo.jpg There are dozens of YouTube competitors and video services that aggregate videos from the Google-owned site, but most of them are just looking to bolster their own video catalogs. WeShow is different. The service pulls video from multiple sources, but allows site members to form communities, create channels, and network with one another around their favorite videos.

WeShow may seem to be like any other video aggregators, scraping other video sites for content, but unlike those services, WeShow goes the extra mile. Instead of simply presenting those videos to you organized slightly differently than the original site, WeShow pulls videos from over 100 different Web video sites and drops them into over 20 different categories, over 200 channels. Videos at WeShow are in many cases more diligently categorized than they were at their original source.

The real strength of the service comes from its social capabilities. Members can't upload their own videos directly to WeShow, but they can point the service at videos that it may not have captured yet and suggest them to the service. Additionally, once you create an account at WeShow, you can create your own groups in the My WeShow area, centered around a specific topic or interest. Other members can then join the group, share their own videos, and comment.

Additionally, members can subscribe to their favorite groups or use custom groups to promote their own videos and keep their friends up to date when new ones are available. You can keep track of ...

NVIDIA VP joins the smack-talk fun, says the Intel CPU is “dead”

Alright, we’re loving that new hyper-aggressive, sorta-nasty version of NVIDIA. Not only has CEO Jen Hsun-Huang promised to “open a can of whoop-ass” on Intel, the company has been touting its new sub-$45 integrated platform as far superior to Celeron-based systems, and now we’ve got VP of subst…
