AOL recently made a larger effort to get in on the online media-sharing craze with the launch of Bluestring: The service allows users to upload mixed media, including photos, music, and video.

Although that's pretty standard, Bluestring sets itself apart with the ability to "string" files together into a sort of mashup--various content is stuck together into one (hopefully) aesthetically pleasing combination. In this case, the combo consists of pictures you took, videos you recorded, and/or music you made (or just like).

Where Bluestring falls short is in the storage it offers to its users. Anyone can sign up for a free 5GB account, but if you want more, it's going to cost you $99 per year — and that's for only 50GB. Lots of other services offer unlimited storage for no more than $25. What you're paying for here is the stringing. While it's cool, it's just not worth the cost.
