Good: The IdeaTab Lynx is well-balanced when plugged into its keyboard base, and offers good battery life, and a bigger-screen alternative to Lenovo’s other Atom tablet.
Bad: The keyboard has too much flex, and the docking hinge sticks. For only a little more, better products are available.
Bottom Line: The IdeaTab Lynx is a perfectly functional Windows 8 hybrid but lacks the lower price of some competitors, or better design and features of others. [Read more]

Good: The 2013 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible‘s Fender system is still one of the best affordable premium audio rigs in the business. The ’70s Edition rolls all of the tech worth having into one stylish package.
Bad: The weather seals of the convertible top creak over rough roads with the roof raised. Affixing the roof cover is more trouble than it’s worth. The RNS 315 navigation system doesn’t feature traffic data.
Bottom Line: The 2013 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible’s tech is a bit outdated, but this retro-stylish ragtop with its kicking stereo brings a smile to every trip. [Read more]

Good: The Sony Alpha SLT-A99V has a lot going for it, including excellent photos and very good video, a well constructed and designed body, solid performance, and a great feature set.
Bad: For some folks, things like the lack of CompactFlash, poor battery life, and compromises on video autofocus may not be reasonable trade-offs.
Bottom Line: The Sony Alpha SLT-A99V is a generally great camera that’s equally adept at both stills and video, but with a few caveats. [Read more]

Good: The Corsair Voyager Air offers up to 1TB of storage to an existing network and is capable of wirelessly streaming HD content to a max of five concurrent Wi-Fi-enabled mobile devices. It can also relay Wi-Fi Internet access, is a fast portable drive, and comes with both wall and car chargers.
Bad: The Corsair Voyager Air’s mobile app doesn’t support certain popular file formats, and fails to automatically organize content by type. The device needs a faster Wi-Fi standard, and should allow for Internet sharing via its network port.
Bottom Line: Despite a few shortcomings, the Corsair Voyager Air is an excellent way to extend your mobile devices’ storage capacity and features. [Read more]

What's lurking inside the Galaxy S4?

(Credit: Samsung)

If the Samsung Galaxy S4 follows in the same path as the S3, we should see two variants of the Android phone with different internals.

Like the S3, the international version of the S4 will likely carry Samsung silicon, while an LTE version in the U.S. opts for a Qualcomm processor.

While we won’t know until Thursday what’s inside precisely (and we may initially only know the precise specs of the international version), there are two candidates based on reports, including one from J.P. Morgan.

Whatever the case, there’s no doubt the S4′s high-resolution 5-inch class screen (possibly 1,920×1,080 resolution) will need plenty of horsepower to manage all of those pixels.

Samsung internals: It’s highly likely that, like the S3 before it, the international version of the S4 will pack Samsung’s newest chip from the Exynos line.

And there’s one candidate that gets mentioned often. That would be the … [Read more]
